sorry first post, this working it all out

Hi guys,

I have been acepted into a diploma of nursing at mayfield. I have the option of doing this course as a traineeship and would really like to do so, however it is up to me to find a aged care facility in Melb that are willing to take me on as trainee for 8 or more hrs a week. Under their advice I have contacted many local facilities and finding one that offers traineeships is proving impossible. I also have searched online and looked in papers to no avail.

I'm at the point where I may need to forgo my position as I won't be able to afford the full tuiton costs (for non trainee students), does anyone have any ideas on what other avenues I can take to find a placement? or know of any facilities that do offer traineeships? I am willing to work for free at this point!!

any help will be greatly appreciated

thanks

Marie, Are you speaking from an Australian experience and perspective? Or is it just so that you can advertise your website?

Wannabnurse, traineeship is not that difficult to get in a nursing home. Especially if you do more than just ask for a position. As nursing homes are always looking for nurses, it will be a win win situation if you offer to pursue working for them at least 6 mths to a year post graduation if they provide you with the traineeship. It will then assure you not only of practical placement but also a job post graduation which you will find invaluable if you then choose to pursue working is say a hospital environment or as a practice nurse. All the best. Oh, for Marie's information, my suggestion is based on personal experience.
