Hello, I went for a job interview today for practice nurse position.  Anyways they offered me the job after the interview.  I feel sceptical, unsure. Usually I do appreciate when there is a thought and then hear back in few days or a week or so.  I always think if its too good to be true then it is.
I am currently working casually with a non profit aged care community nursing.  I enjoy it a lot, if only I was parttime, I would be happy.  Been with the Community Aged role for one year and would like to stay and grow with the company.

I feel like I am in a predicament.  I said Yes to the job offer, not being true to myself and say Well I would like to think about it.  So now I just would like to know with my Community Nursing role, if  speak to my manager to seek a permanent position???
I am wondering if I could be alright with the practice nurse position.  They advised me its high pressured role.  I am not really one for high pressure, that's why I went to community from hospital work.  However, I am not sure what is considered high pressure, it can vary???

So I am seeking advice and if any practice nurses would like to share their input, I woud be greatly appreciated, thankyou :-/

Hi KyAn22. I would have loved to read what other people had to say in response to your post. I wonder how you've been doing since posting this. Did you get a permanent position in the aged care? Or did you go for practice nursing?

I am working as a practice nurse at the moment. While it may vary from place to place, I still think that practice nursing, thus far is  the least stressful job I have tried. While I enjoy treatment room procedures very much, such as wound dressings; assisting doctors with wound sutures, pap smears, implanon insertion and removal, vaccinations, etc. I particularly dread the health assessments, patient education and counselling. The place I work at is relatively new as well so patient census is not that high. There is so much idle moments that I feel like I could die with boredom any second. There is only so much cleaning, and restocking you can do. By the way, those are part of the roles.
So in Practice Nursing, you also have to do recalls for patients (calling them up to see the doctor for various reasons), ordering stocks, patient liaison with other health providers in the community. It's exciting. It's busy but not highly stressful. Patients come and go. You don't put up with the same person for 8 hours. If you work with lovely doctors, and friendly staff, life is a breeze. Hope this helps you in your decision if you have not done one yet already
