If you were a Theatre Nurse for 4 years straight out of UNI then you wanted to go onto the wards how long should it take to be trained up to handle say a 6 patient work load on a MedSurg ward 3months 6months 12months? A friend is thinking of making a move but she is scared that she doesn't have the ward experience and they will expect to much of her. Has anybody done this at all? Thanks in advance.

The facilities that take on New Grads already have these supports in place Most of the rural larger hospitals are so short of staff that I am sure they would offer support whilst skills are being upgraded and confidence is getting a boost.
