I am doing bachelor of nursing this year at VU, I do not know what type of registered nurse after finishing my study ? because there are some types of registered nurse like RNs( aged care), RNs( child and family care)..., just wondering if I need to do any postgraduate course to become a certain type of RNs?

Many Thanks

What you are asking is not how many types because they are all registered nurses, the only differentiation as in types, is Mid-wifery as its a separate discipline.

An RN is the base from which we gain skills in different areas...maybe this is what you're asking. An ICU nurse is required to know skills that are different to that of say an ED nurse. Forgive me if i am not comprehensive but the areas that require additional training are - Mental Health nursing, ICU nursing, ED Nursing, Oncology and Theater nursing. On average they need to do an additional transition year to gain their respective skills and certification.
