Hi Brooklyn, I can't help you with your question on the workload as, like yourself I am looking into the div2 course myself. I am REALLY keen to hear where you are doing your course, as I have spoken to tafe and wasn't aware that you can do this course at night! This would suit me down to the ground as I have 4 children, 2 being at school and the others are 1 & 3 so I wondered about the possibility of night time study, but the staff at the tafe that I have spoken to have been really UNhelpful. Like you, I too haven't been to school, or studied for 22 years so the thought is daunting, but strangely exciting. I think my brain is keen to be used!!!! Shaz

update #1
the work load will vary between all the tafes as I have a friend who is also doing div 2 at another tafe and she has a higher workload than i do. I am studyingpart time 2 days a week and find that I am able to fit the work in at the moment. I have 2 young kids 3 and 1 and find that I can get my work done at night when they are in bed.
From what i know the fulltime workload is quite intense so it will depend on how much time you are able to set aside each day for study whether you will be able to keep up. I am sure you can start full time and transfer into part time if you are unable to cope. We have had 2 people move to part time since we started our course this feb. Best of luck

Hi Brooklyn, I'm also interested in knowing where you're studying, as I'm also looking at doing the div 2 course and the night classes would be perfect. (I have a 2.5 and 1 year old, and the only reason I haven't enrolled yet is because I haven't yet managed to come to grips with full time child care!) I'm actually looking at doing this as a step towards entering the Bach. Midwifery, as a mature-aged student you have to prove you're really interested by doing extra study first.

I have applied at Port Adelaide Tafe they have a range of courses for the Div 2 course ranging from full time on campus to Full time on and off campus day/night, which is what i have applied for. When i contacted the tafe they said that i would need to attend tafe one night a week every week on either a nmon, tue or wednesday.

HI Brooklyn I can tell you now that the fulltime workload is quite big I have 3 kids 5,7,10 and I do most of the work in the night time I am at Tafe 2 days a week on and off campus and I try to get alot of the work done in the day when they are also at school Iwill be finished in December I have just finished my aged care placement at the end of June I have had some pretty weak moments when I have thought it is all too much but I kept at it in one semester I had 22 assignments to hand up so the workload is pretty big but time management and being organised is the key GOODLUCK Gracie in Adealaide
