Hey folks

Just wondered if anyone could fill me in on the whole grad year thing?

I'm currently in my second year up here in Darwin and, well, to be honest want to get out of here as soon as possible. I was wondering if it's possible to apply for a grad year in a different state? I want to move back to Melbourne as soon as I have finished my degree and hopefully do my grad year down there instead. Is this sort of thing done often? Is it even possible?

As far as I am aware, you can apply in any state. If your in second year however, you wont be able to apply until next year. You apply in the June/July before you finish.

The uni should go through the info with you at your 2nd year CTB. They went through it all with us at the Alice CTB a few weeks ago.

Yeah, I need to get myself back to Melbourne pronto. These endless 30+ days are beginning to kill me :)

Nice to know I might be able to get back sooner rather than later.

Just out of interest, whats the deal with applying? Is it done in writing? Is it a massive process? Do they go on grades etc when dishing out the placements? I'm not doing my CTB until next semester so won't get the information anytime soon.

Ah, a quick google appears to have answered my questions further. Seems like a lot of work. I figure I'll apply for the 4 big hospitals in Melbourne and take it from there.
