Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience studying nursing through Health Skills Australia in Melbourne?

Thanks. :)

I'm a current student there at the moment on CBD campus . I started 4 weeks ago. So far it's absolutely fantastic studying there. Everyone is nice and helpful!

Thanks Dani,

Do you mind if I ask how much it costs? I'm assuming you are doing the cert IV? I've enquired about the diploma in 2012 and been told it should be around $14,000. Just wondering at the difference. Are you doing it full or part time?

Diploma is the same as Cert IV but after you do extra units which is an extra 6 months. Next year the rules are changing so you have to do diploma to be come an enrolled nurse but those already enrolled in cert IV are exempt.

Umm as for the 14,000 that would be a full cost! if you currently do not have Cert IV or higher in any qualification you will be eligible for government funding as you are "upgrading" your skills which brings it down to about 3,800 and if you have a healthcare card which i recommend you organise before you start will bring it down to around $2,000

text books cost around $300 a guy will come on your first day. And you are provided with a nurses kit, uniform etc. :)

Thanks for the info Dani,

I'm not eligible for funding because I have a diploma in another area already. So it will be full fees for me. Not happy about that. I'm looking at the Ringwood campus at the moment, easier to get to with kids in school etc. But hopefully the teachers would be the same for both campuses? It's just such a huge amount of money out for me that I really want to be sure I'm going for the right thing. How much did the nurses kit cost? :)

nurse kit and uniform is included in fees :)
that sucks about the full fees! surely you can get some kind of funding if you look around?

Thanks for the info again Dani :)

I'm going with a friend to have a look at the ringwood campus next week, so we'll see how it goes. She's also been looking into doing the course externally through Tafe SA so I might enquire about that as well....

It pays to buy a laser printer, the amount of notes you need to print is unbelievable
