Hello All,

Nice to meet you and I am glad I am not alone studying this semester. I am actually starting with 4 units and am still wandering what is is going to be like. We have not been given any real time table to know when to go for lectures or tut and other stuff. Any ideas????

Lady crastic- are you studying via distance/externally? If so your classes will be up on learnline. There is a link to the learnline site from the cdu site.

Hi Alli,

Thanks for your reply, I am doing it externally/online. I have logged onto learnline, downloaded the wimba classroom but still do not know how to go about the lectures & tuts. I thought there will be a fixed time for lectures and a time for tut online to intereact with other students but I called the student services and it does not seem to work like that. I haven't done this before... any ideas on how it works.

They have forums and things u can interact with other students and u can contact ur lecturers for help.
But to get started on your classes.. simply log in at learnline....
On the right hand side of the page your units that you are enrolled in will show up. Click on one of them. There will probably be an introduction from the unit coordinator. Then depending on the subject; down the left hand side of the page there will be unit information, timetable(whats going to be covered week to week) and for the subject im doing (NUR231) under learning materials there is a link to my week one stuff.. where it then gives me the power point slide shows i need.. and information on what i should be reading from my text books.
Just play around with all the links on the left hand side... its how u find out what assessments/assignments u will have etc.
Hope this helps.

I am starting from 2nd year and I need a lot of self discipline to pull through this.

Hi everyone, I hope some of you are still around and reading this. I've just been accepted into the bach of nursing at CDU externally. I have no idea how it all works but I am already an EN working and will go into second year. I intend to do it full time, while working and with 4  young kids and single. Will I be able to cope? Just wondering how you guys are going with the course now?

Hi enigma, once been studying part time for last year and this year..but am going to take onfull time next year to hurry up n finish it off. I've found it pretty good so far.. Have my first ctb/ placement next semester.. Unfortunately have to go to Alice springs for a week for ctb, but hoping my clinical placement will be in Melbourne. They do have ctb in ur own state.. But places r limited and unfortunately I missed out.  I work anywhere from 3-6 days a week and cope alright. The exams so far have been multiple choice based which def makes it easier. Any questions let me know :)

Thanks Alli, just wondering when do we go to Alice Springs? If I'm starting in second year, at what stage do you have the CTB and placements and how much chance is there of getting it in Melbourne if I try to get in early? I'm really concerned that I'd have to do a placement in another state as I don't think I could manage that at all with 4 kids. I don't mind going to Alice Springs once or twice for the week though as I've never been there and it would be a good experience and I can fob off the kids for a week lol.

Hi enigma, I'm already an en so I went straight into second year. As far as placements it depends on wether you study full time or part time. The main difference is you take on 2 subjects per semester with part time instead of 4.. Making second year go over two years. So if u go full time and go straight into second year your first clinical is second semester. If you go part time your first placement won't be until second semester in your second year. I hope that makes sense :) fromMy understanding I will have 4 clinicals in the course but only 2 ctb's( teaching block where u go to uni and get assessed as competent on practical stuff) . I got on 5 mins after nominations opened for ctb and was able to pick one close to home as my first preference but then when it was confirmed I got Alice springs. With ctb I think it's really luck of the draw.. And I'm just treating it like a holiday :) as for placement though I still don't know.. Hoping it will be in Melbourne and I have nominated a few hospitals close to home.

Thanks Alli, I'm going to do it full time so I guess that means placement is next year.
