I am a registered RN in Australia but my qualifications do not include the Pediatrics and Obstetrics theory/clinical required to become a licensed RN in New York state. Since I can't find a way to do this here in Australia I am thinking of getting NY Licence as an LPN and doing the extra courses while working in USA. Can anyone tell me whether this will work? are there colleges/universities in upstate New York where I could do courses that would enable me to meet NY RN licence requirements (ie 40 hours theory and 40 hours clinical in both Pediatrics and Midwifery/Obstetrics). Any advice/suggestions would be VERY much appreciated. Obtaining visa is not an issue, I already have one.
