edison.pun1 (offline) Joined: Apr 2017 Location: Posts: 1	Fri Apr 14, 2017 11:04 pm So I am currently studying a combined degree of masters of nursing and bachelor of arts at Usyd (the bachelor of nursing is sort of irrelevant but just context i guess) and I'm in my first year of the nursing degree. I was wondering when I can start applying to become an AiN and what other job opportunities I have as a student. And the type of stuff I'm looking for is preferably something at a hospital and something which I can still be a full-time student, I don't intend to study part time and work part time. Thanks everything, it would be very appreciated since i'm quite new to everything

Swannor (offline) Joined: Apr 2020 Location: Posts: 1	Apr 19, 2020, 10:43 pm You can become a AIN from second year nursing after completing, I believe, two placements. I'm second year part-time so can't apply until after this year (I've been told). I do however work at the hospital as a Patient Services Assistant which is a great opportunity - yes there is cleaning, yes there is mortuary duties, but there is also a lot of patient assist working with nurses and basically having the opportunity to learn a lot of things that will ultimately help with your degree (I've only been in the job 3 months and found a lot of things useful so far). And it pays more than an AIN gets :)
