QUT
Griffith
UQ
ACU

With so many options I am confused on which one to choose. I would love for your opinions and advice.

Cheers,
Amadeus.

Hi,
I am in my first year at ACU. I have to say it is such a great uni. What I love about it as a mature student, that the support there with all the teachers is just great. I have never met a teacher that will help you with an assignment on a weekend. That is just the dedication of the teaching staff. Not sure with other uni's however I use to go to qut. It was ok as but not sure of the nursing program there. ACU is a very small uni which suits me fine, more one on one time. However the biology at ACU is really hard. Not sure if other uni's are the same, but to me that is the hardest subject of all of them. Hope it helps and good luck

I go to UQ, I would recommend it. Some get turned off by the fact that the campus is at ipswich, but i actually prefer the smaller campus out there. It's small, the library is great - as are the librarians, you can always get a computer and a car park... the downside is the time and petrol it takes to get there, and public transport from bris to ipswich takes an age.

there are sides to it that i don't like, but i'd imagine that's the same everywhere. sometimes they stuff you around a bit by only giving you a time-table last minute, some of the clinical lecturers are better than others... sometimes the online stuff stuffs up... things like that.

I find the best part is that you start prac 4 weeks in to the course, and have prac continuously through the year. you can apply what you learn as you go, which makes it much more interesting and you get to know if it really is your thing or not. the other thing i like about it is that you're at the same hospital for the whole time (except possibly your elective).

The nurses i have talked to seem to feel that UQ produces good nurses, but i've also heard good things about nurses from ACU.

I did my RN's at QUT and I will be going back to QUT for my masters next year. I have worked in alot of diferent settings and I see alot more QUT graduates then any other university. Also depending on what uni you go to and where you live can influence where you go for clinical placements. But honestly, it doesnt matter where you study its how much work you put in yourself as to what kind of nurse you will be. And once you become an RN noone will care what uni you went to!
