Hi Sash,

Thanks for your info on where you studied. I am looking at the Gordon in Geelong and I am considering studying the Bridging into Nursing course next semester although I am not sure how much this will help me in regards to getting into the course. I have not studied for about 10 years and have been a stay at home mum for the past 7 so I will be a bit 'rusty' when it comes to studying. We will be moving our family so I do not have to travel a great distance everyday to school which will mean my daughters changing to a new school so the move will iclude some big changes for them so I am preying that I get into the course at the start of next year or else I will have made some dramatic moves for nothing. If I dont give it a go I will never know. I know that FACTS in Geelong is more expensive than the Gordon and if the Gordon offer great training then I will try to get into there. Thanks again for your response.

Yes i heard that FACTS is a Lot dearer than the Gordon. The bridging into nursing is a great start. When I studied, about half of my class were mature age people with kids. The teachers were really helpful, so don't be worried about your ten year gap since last studying.

Good luck with your move, and with getting a place in the course. Nursing is a great career : )

Hi TraceyB,

I applied for a place at the Gordon at the end of last year. From what I remember, they take 25 full time and 25 part time students, which means it can be difficult to get in, as they obviously select the best candidates. I think that would make it a great place to study. Before I had my interview at the Gordon, I'd had an interview at VU (where I'm studying now), which was a slightly relaxed group interview. I was thrown off guard at the Gordon, because I was interviewed on my own by two of the nursing teachers. So my advice is to BE PREPARED! :) They asked me a really strange and irrelevant question, it was something along the lines of, "If one of your workmates was talking about you behind your back because you couldn't swap shifts with them, how would you handle it?" My real answer would've been, "I couldn't care less if someone was talking about me, I'm not 15 years old", however - I told them what I thought they'd want to hear, which was something like, "I would approach the person talking about me behind my back and try to find a resolution."

Probably the most awkward interview I've ever had in my life... lol

I hope this helps! It would've made me feel more at ease if I'd have known it was going to be a two-on-one interview before I was interviewed. :)
