So what does one need - in addition to being RN - for aged care ?

www.accreditation.org.au

Is an aged care accreditation agency if this is what you want. they have all the standards etc.

I would be interested in discussion about what facilities are doing about compliance - from any standpoint both nursing and management.

Hi Red,

Sorry for taking nearly a year to reply, however I am right in the middle of accreditation on both side - as a manager and as an assessor. I would like to continue this topic if you are still interested.

G'day- we have just had our accreditation visit- I have completed the assessor course and have been through all three rounds. This was the most gruelling- as an auditor on site I thought I knew my processes very well- however one can not discount the "outside" eye. We were found compliant and now I have a number of areas where I need to QIP - this is the challenge I love. Areas of focus on our visit- reg compliance, 2.7, 2.10, 3.8, 3.8 4.2 4.7 - there is a huge focus from the agency on communication

Hope this helps those yet to have a visit
