I have a aged care case study to do and wondered if anybody out their can help.

The case study states you work in lowcare a german man says woman should not work when they have children. you have a young son and are single bill tells you that you should not work and is a bad mother. you get upset because you and bill have different values what should you do as an aged care worker in this situation.

Hi Totty,

I have been in aged care for 10 years now and on and off, some residents can be very challenging, As a case study I would probably say, That as a nurse we should try not to let it get to us as hard as that is but to let "Bill" know that, that is his opinion and that's fine, But that you enjoy caring for people and that's why you chose what you do. Sometimes even not a good idea to let residents know much about your personal life for that reason, Not sure if this helps, just going on experience with some residents I have had recently.

The last message is dead right. You cannot tell the residents about your personal life and if we do, we have to ask ourselves why we have and what is it going to serve.
It can backfire. It is different when you have known someone a hundred years and they share willingly also. I would say that 9 times out of 10 that we are vulnerable if
we elude to our own personal lives.
Since it is too late in this case study, it is right to say the same response each time the topic comes up. Eg How much satisfaction you gain from your work and helping the
aged. That his and your opinions can differ and that is alright also.
