My husband fell through a glass window on the 6th of december haning xmas decorations, i had moved to a farm in south australia and was just organising to start as a rural carer. but now i will have to be his full time carer until he has some use of his arm, the ambulance could not find our property so had to risk driving him about 7 ks to an area to meet them, it was 40 minutes from the accident until the ambulance arrived. he had 100% severing of the Brachial atery.

100% severing of the basilic vein.

100% severing of the Median nerve.

100% of the ulnar nerve.

100% musculocutaneous nerve.

100%of the medial cutaneous nerve.

100% of the biceps brachii.

100% medial head of triceps.

100% brachialis muscle.

it took 10 hours before he was transfered by the rfds to flinders hostpital , the hostpital here was so shoddy and negligent in his care im stunned,, the micro surgeon was amazed he was alive and asked how i had kept him alive, i said i just shoved a cloth into his arm and kept pressure on it then when i got to the meeting point i jumped on him in the passenger seat made him elevate the arm and used one fist with cloth in it and the other over his arm and made him with what stregnth he had left to use his good hand ontop of mine..he is a very lucky man to not only have his arm but his life..ive learnt that as frightening as it can be expecially with a loved one you just do what you have to , to keep them alive...he has two years plus of hard work ahead of him to reabilitate so we are moving back to Ballarat in victoria to get better medical care for him there and in Melbourne. i just needed to share this with people who would understand the gravity of it and understand how lucky we are to still have him...

I think it,s really amazing appreciable that how you have manage to handle the situation and help your husband to survive in such a miserable condition. Otherwise lot people might just get worried enough to do anything about. But you really did well to tackle the situation. Hope everything will get well soon and wish you best of luck.

So sorry to read of the accident.  Your husband is very fortunate to have such a capable nurse for a wife.  We wish him a swift recovery.
