Hello, Ive decided I want to enroll in the 2011 intake for the diploma of nursing! I have heard it is a very competitive course to get into? I didn't complete yr 12 but have just finished my cert 3 beauty. Does anybody know if this will give me an ok
Chance of being accepted?

I am a 29 year stay at home mum with a 14 month and a 5yr old so I'm hoping I'll make it through the Tafe course okay and if I do I'd love to continue on to become a RN!

Also does anybody know of Another institute I could study the diploma if I am not accepted?

Wish me luck!

Hi Kristie,

I started my EN Diploma through Tafe in Mid 2009. I applied for the Jan 2009 intake but did not get in the first time. There is a matrix tafe/satac use to determine your chance of getting in (you will have to find it in your own state). Im not sure which state you are in but i had completed year 12, had a cert 3 in business and had points from first aid and did reasonally well in the TABS test and i still didnt get in the first time. You could however apply to do your aged care certificate as your 2nd preference that way if you dont get in at least if you start the aged care you will get some RPL and will most likely get in the next time. (i wish i had done this first)

There are plenty of other instututes but they cost about $10K not sure if you are up for that kind of money but i certainly wasnt!

Thanks clm, that is really helpful info! I am going to do my first aid cert also now and yeah that's a good idea to do aged care as a preference! Thanks a bunch! Kristie! :)
