Hi there,
Am hoping I can get some help from people who are currently studying the Masters of Nursing studies @ UQ or Bachelor of Nursing @ QUT (graduate entry)
I'm still deciding between which one to put as my first preference and it will come down to the contact hours during the day I will be committed to.
I have 3 young kids with 2 at school next year so I realise I will need to get help with childcare and school pick up / drop off.
I guess I'm trying to work out which of the two courses I can fit MORE into during school hours. I have got the support of extended family to help me with school pick up / drop offs but naturally want to rely on them as little as possible.
If anyone has information or opinions about this, I'd love to hear them!
I've actually already got the study timetable options for QUT this year, but I haven't been able to get a hold of the UQ one. I understand they change every year but I just need to get an indication of what to expect.
With UQ requiring 99% of their contact hours at the hospital, I'd like to know whether the contact hours are more aligned with business hours or shift working hours.
Thanks so much in advance and apologies for the rambling!

Hi Su-en,

I inquired with UQ's Master of Nursing this year. I was told during the 1st year, there are only 3 contact days per week----2 days for placement, 1 day for lecture/lab/tutorial---all done in the hospital. I'm not sure of the exact hours. I would expect the lecture/lab/tutorial to be held during business hours than shift work hours.

I want to know what the study timetable options for QUT. Could you please share. Thanks.

Hi pyrmontguy,

If you want to PM me with your email address, I can email you the timetable for first year subjects from this year. Basically one option for lecture per subject but many many options available for tutorials.

Thanks

Hi Suen,

Your contact detail is withheld, so I cannot send you a private email. Anyways, here's my email add: anything_goes@lycos.com

Have you got an offer from QUT or UQ already? I'm still awaiting for offers from UQ or QUT. I have 2 offers here in NSW but I am more keen in studying in Brisbane.
I heard that Queensland nurses are paid more than NSW.

Hi there, I've emailed the timetable to you.

Major round offers happen on 12th January so most people will be waiting to hear then.

Good luck!

lol...there might appear to have lots of tutorial slots but they get taken up within the first 4 minutes of being released online for selection. Trust me, there will be at least 1 tute that you can never choose an ideal time for. Recommend you check with your seniors who to avoid...yes, there are a few "nasties" in there.

Good luck and have fun....might run into you at Prince Charles when you do your pracs there...:)

Hey Schizo,

Thanks for the tip about the tutorials.... so best to jump online as soon as they are released to try to get the better times/days?

Hmmmm..... need to find out who the "good ones" are.... LOL

Thanks for all your advice and tips - they've been extremely helpful over the past weeks, my learning curve has been steep!

Now just playing the waiting game. :)

Cheers
