Ok so I have looked around on the net looking for some inspiration and varying stories of nurses journies as EN's and I cant seem to find anything. I thought it might be a good idea to ask here as there are a few of us and I would love to read about different experiences.

I am just about to embark on the beginning of my EN career so am looking for some interesting reading haha.

Thanks :)

What would you like to ask? I may write you some inspiration and varying stories but I need a topic!

Well I guess anything you wanna talk about. I dont really 'want' anything specific.

How you got started or why you decided to do your EN training and what rewards the job has bought you. Where you have worked and the experiences you have had.

General stuff. I just like to hear of good positive EN stories as opposed to hearing all about RN's (sorry if that sounds a little bitter, im just looking for EN specific)

Hi Keeshy,

I started in 1975, a year after leaving school, I have had a full nursing career, I trained in the day of the Matron, ours ex-army, went first into nursing homes, had my fill of theml then worked in hospitals in cardiac hosp for 4yrs,and most other specialty wards, incl IVF, worked at a medical centre as treatment room nurse/receptionist, have been X-ray nurse/receptionist, worked for the Blood Service for 10years, as a nurse at endoscopy/colonoscopy centre, EN at clinical trial centre, in 2007 have done 2 rural contracts, these are great experience, I enjoy being an EN as I get to spend more time with my patients and dont have to worry about running around giving meds, but that will change soon. The nursing role is ever changing, not for the better I think. The small things do not go unnoticed, such as a smile, a small gesture such as a back or heel rub, fluffing a pillow, changing flower water,a kind word, a laugh ,it does not take much.
