I'm working in theaters as RN1. I get paid very good. Also, im a NON new grad program Registered Nurse.

So my question is this, when i reach RN2 status, in approx 9 months time, would employers that advertise jobs in non theatres related wards accept me as a bonified RN, unlike an RN1 with "no experience", in their minds. You know what i mean.

So if i apply for a job in mental health or med/surgical based wards, would they look at me differently that im RN2 etc. you know what i mean. Obviously if i apply in theatres elsewhere, they would instantly recognize my experience.

First and foremost when you say 'theatres' do you mean you have experience in which of the following areas:

-Scout/instrument
-Anaesthetics
-Recovery/PACU
or have you done a mix rotation?

This will matter.
Nursing has its specialisations.
(Hospitality setting) I would not expect a Sauce Chef to be able to immediately be able to work on a desserts bench.

If you go into surgical nursing you will have a better chance of assimilating into the ward (with anaesthetics/recovery experience) due to the obvious surgical nature of your patients.

I cannot answer your question properly until you tell me what areas in theatres you have worked in.

And do you want to work in mental health or medical/surgical wards?
