Hi, I would like to become an Div 2/enrolled nurse but have been told that I am not eligible for a government funded place because I already have a diploma in an unrelated field. So I would have to pay the full fee. Is there anyone else paying full fee for their diploma and if so, do you mind telling me how much it costs please? I am really not interested in going to uni to become a Div 1/RN at this stage; I would feel better to work my way up from the bottom, if you know what I mean. Thanks. :)

Hi There not sure what state you are in but I did my enrolled nursing in WA - I paid fees each school term for each subject. It worked out to be roughly $300-$400 a semester and there was an option to pay it off in installments. Quite affordable really and definitely worth it! assume it would similar in other states :)

That was roughly the same as where i did my diploma, but I have heard of it costing a lot more in other states. I think may be it is QLD that it is quite expensive? I am not sure though. I just know of people who have said that for the amount it would cost them to do a diploma and then conversion to B.nursing, it wasn't worth it.

I'm in Vic, and just found out that the RMIT full fee paying diploma costs $18,500. Yikes!

I know that for those prices I could go and do the uni degree instead, but I'm not that ambitious just yet. Do you think it would be worth looking into traineeships instead? Does anyone know if they have eligibility criteria as well? Thanks. :)

It would be worth looking into the fees for other places that offer the course in your area, as there seems to be huge differences from place to place. I am also in Vic and my course was under $2000(full fee) including all text books.

Hi, Im studing my EN at NSW at Tafe and I had to pay $15,800 (inc Textbooks) for the 18 months. you might still be able to get VET help through Tafe its a bit like a HECS Debt but for Tafe students...you just pay it back with intrest after you are earning 30K a year.... I wasnt able to get any funding but the class that graduates before us, they got full funding from the government and the course cost them nothing...It depends on where the state funding goes and if your lucky enough to get some...well good luck to you and if your like me and missed out well your up for the full fees!!....
