Hi Jules

I will be studying one day a week and working approx 21 hours a fortnight. Apparently you only have to do 13 hours now per week and that is including class time. So if i wanted i could get away with only working say 6 hours a week. I would prefer to work more hours not only for the money but the experience as well. It will be a traineeship for 2 years. If there is any thing else i can help you with just yell.

Good luck

Michelle

Hey mia2760

I sat a vetassess for div 2 about 3 weeks ago. There are 40 maths questions with only 30 minutes to answer them. I didn't get all of mine finished in fact I still had 16 left! I think I was so worried about making silly mistakes that I probably took too long double checking i had read the question correctly and making sure my answer was right. Unfortunately i don't think I will be offered a place because my score wont be high enough now even though out of the 24 questions i did answer I got 21 correct and I got 40/40 for my literacy! Anyway my point is dont spend too long on each question and if you can keep an eye on the time as it goes so fast! Chisholm where I applied were only taking the top 50 highest marks out of approx 300 people so every mark counts! i hope you do really well, good luck! Megan

Hi Anth

I thought i would check in here and see if there was anything new. OMG it has been fantastic. I am LOVING it and soooooo glad that i made the choice to go back and do it. Our class is fantastic, such a great group of people . We have about 30 people in it with a mix of 18 year olds and some older people too. Im 33 and there is a few of my age as well lol.

We did our first aid training the first few days and that was great. The past 2 weeks have been full on, Been so tired after class from all the writing and listening etc but all good.

I start work on Monday. Very nervous about it as its all so new but up for the challenge.

Let me know how you are going. Thanks for checking on me

Best wishes
Michelle

Hi Michelle

How is everything going with your course? How is work? What type of things are you doing at work.

I sat the Mayfield test on Wednesday and got a call today to go in for an interview. I am very excited, wasn't sure how I went on the test, but passed. They said we wouldn't know for a week or so but only took 24 hours.

Do you have any tips for the interview.? What sort of things can I expect with the first 2 weeks, if I pass the interview? Sorry once again for all the questions.

Hope you are good

Hi Michelle

How are you? I had my intereview at Mayfield today and it went really well and was offered a place. The process was so quick from exam to interview to offer took 4 business days.

Now the pressure is on, I have to find an aged care facility that will take me on as a trainee. Hopefully I can get one around my local area.

Hope your going good. What sort of things are you doing at work & how did you find the first 2 week at school.

Anyway lots of questions, sorry

Maybe catch up one day on campus

Hi there,

I'm just curious. I have been looking into the possibility of doing either div 1 or 2 and had initially been more keen on doing the div2 course as I am keen to get straight into midwifery after that, but have noticed that nowhere seems to offer div2 by distance education which as I have 4 children, 2 of them under 3, it really is my only option. I hadn't heard anything about Mayfield, so had a quick look and then saw that the course costs $10,500!!! Eeeek. Is that what everyone pays? That's rather offensive. lol

Anyway some feedback would be great. To be honest, I'm getting a little disheartened. I thought now while the kiddies are little would be a great time to study as I'm home anyway, and then when they're all at school, I'd be all trained up and ready to go but it just seems that it's all kind of too hard. I recently spoke to the witch (oops I shouldn't say that) at Chisholm in Berwick, and she said that you can't do the div2 course part-time any more? They only offer it full-time? Does anyone know if that's correct, or was she just being horrid?

Anyway any reply would really help.

Thanks Shaz

Hi Anth

COngratulations on getting in. Sorry i didnt reply sooner i keep forgetting to check in here. email me on michellepinchin@gmail.com if there is something you want to ask me , i dont mind at all.

School has been going good. Work has been rough. Its really hard aged care especially when its not what you want to do in the long run, I treat all the residents with respect and care and all but its hard to adjust to the smells lol to be honest. Overall all going ok. Im basically just working as a pca , hopefully can do some div 2 stuff soon.

Have you started yet? I loved the first two weeks. The guys who do the first aid Mick and gosh i cant remember his name i think Steve? Were wonderful. EMail me and let me know how its going as i forget to check back here

All the best

Michelle
