Hi! Saw your post last week and been meaning to reply. Seem's we're both poms! I'm off to Alex Hills in 2 weeks to study nursing. I'm a 36 year old guy, my finance's joining me here in September. Thankfully I don't have a family to worry about but am sure the course (am hoping anyway) will be straightforward. I'm just hoping there's going to be a few more "oldies" in my class. What's your background?

Hi Moonbeam, how did you know that I was a pom??? Well, I am from Birmingham with mostly Irish family. How did you come to be over here? I'm very excited about starting the course, a little nervous I guess. Did you know that we have orientation at logan campus on Monday 11th? I think it was all a bit disorganised, I had to ring up Tafe to find out when that was, I hope I have got the right date haha. I live in Capalaba with my hubby and three kids. Where abouts are you living?

I could hear your accent in the back yard! I'm only in Birkdale!....I just looked though some of your earlier posts....

Well, I "landed" on 17th June - not so long ago - and in between my arrival and now I've also been on holiday over to see family in Auckland. All part of the process of easing my way into a different way of life for a while. I'm finding most things great here, apart from some of the perpetual form filling.....they seem to have a form for every eventuality! Yes I'm, kind of excited but also nervous too! How long has it been for you sitting in class room? How old are you - I'm 36. I have a feeling I may be the oldest in the class of a very young group! Oh well, I guess it'll also be fun.

Yes there does seem to be a little disorganisation with MSIT. Yes, I'll be going to the orientation day at Logan on 11th July - I have a double whammy as I've also got to go to an International Student Orientation day at their Mt Gravatt Campus on 6th July. I think the idea of that is to ease me in gently into living in Australia - wow I'm excited about that!

I'm living with some friends at the moment and their two kids - its been great fun kite flying over the past couple of days - this really is a contrast to the way I was working a couple of weeks ago. I'll be looking for somewhere else to live once my fiance has indicated an arrival date!

Will be great to catch up with you! I have my school bag already packed!

I'm James - see you soon!

Wow, you'll be very busy. Seems like you're enjoying life here! Always a bonus when you're like thousands of miles from home hehe. My hubs uncle lives in birkdale, just on claremont st. Do you know what time orientation is on Monday? Have you got transport as I will be driving there so I could always pick you up if that's any help? Have you got much to start with for college...eg books etc, I haven't got anything yet..... well james, good to hear from you. I did the aged care course a couple of years ago and myself and another lady became great study buddies, it really helped us both, maybe all being well, we could get a few of us together to form a study group, that's if we get on haha. Have a good wkd James

Hi Emma

I just saw your last message..... Well thats great we're both a young 36 and I'm ready to give the school leavers a run for their money! :-) Yours husbands uncle probably lives 5 minutes walk away. I'm on Dorsal Drive which is the other side of the canals from Claremont. I believe the orientation days starts at 9.30 (sharp I believe!!!)

I'm surprised they don't tell us earlier what books we will require....I managed to extract the name of a couple of books from them. Emma....if you could give me a lift down to Logan that would be really great

Today I'm feeling more like I'm looking forward to the course then feeling nervous! Tomorrow I have a special orientation day with all the international students!....am wondering what that'll be like!

Would be great to find a small study group...and Emma...I'm easy to get on with! :-) ....so I'm told!
