update #1
EN or EEN unfortunately is used interchangeably without much regard to difference. This is because most ENs/EENs are now med endorsed to give out medications. In actual fact EN strictly are NOT endorsed to give out medications whereas Endorsed Enrolled Nurses are. Its rare to know of ENs who are not med endorsed such that ir-regardless of EN or EEN, we all tend to just refer to them as ENs with the assumption that they are med endorsed. Those who are NOT med endorsed will generally inform the team if they are new.
Australian regulations now require all new ENs to be med endorsed, so you guys/girls will be studying pharmacology or something similarly alongst these lines and be qualified to dish out medications...lol
EN/EENs however are not allowed to administer medications via Intravenous routes...eg hooking up and running IV drips, doing IV pushes, flushing ports and etc. Iv routes include IVC, PICCs, CVCs, Port of Caths, IV Fistulas and etc. Hope this clears the air a bit....lol
