Hi

I am currently enrolled in registered nursing. To say I have stuffed up my course is an understatement.

I was not commited at the beginning and I made a real mess of it.

I am now working as a carer and would like to do my Enrolled Nursing at this point in time I am not interested in completing the RN.

Will I get any credit for my aged care studies ?

I am guessing I might get some for my uni studies, even though it would be very very embarrasing to show them my results.....

Some TAFE's will give you credit but i guess depending on the way the course is structured it may not be very much.

The best thing you can do is contact the TAFE's you are interested in applying to and asking them what credit they will give.

Can I ask the reason why you are thinking of doing EN instead of RN?

Keesy, I am no longer interested in RN at this point as I have done so bad in it.

Mainly due to personal problems and a lack of motivation to get things done.

I would like to get my EN though as I dont want to have been studying so long for nothing. For what its worth it would take me a minimum of 18 months to finish the RN still and I dont want to say how long I have been enrolled lol

I do know my course does get credit with TAFE just wanting to know exactly what as whenever I have contacted TAFE they have been extremely unhelpful and just direct me to the tafe website ....

Well thos reasons are fair enough....as long as you want to make the change then its all that matters anyway really!!

Hmm well I dont know if anyone here will be able to answer the question...maybe they might know...but i dont really have a clue about the type of credit they will give.

Have you tried calling the dept of health sciences through the tafe or have you spoken to the admin staff?

Sometimes the admin staff will refer you to the site cos they really have no idea...but really...the dept itself has to know. If they dont...who would! I would request to speak to the program manager of the course cos she/he will have that information.

Good luck with it. I loved my EN course!!!

Yes I definitely have spoken to staff, they really are just not interested lol

I know I can get some credit - the old credit transfer arrangements are on their site. However there was a change in the RN course I was doing and they haven't updated the details. It has now been maybe 2 years ? since the old course, so you would think they would have updated it by now.

I guess I am just hoping that instead of doing the 18th month course, I can get it down to at least 12 months.
