Anyone been through this? What do you do? I have received a call today from work saying a resident said I yelled at her to another staff member and I have been suspended from work and have an interview on Monday about this. I also have to write a letter about the incident. How do I do that when I have no yelled at this person and only attended to them once during the shift.

I am an AIN studying RN so I don't want to stuff up my career before it has started.

I am just reading your post through again and again.. resident said you yelled at her to another staff member and from that you have been suspended..I just want to clarify something I can be a bit thick sometime. You yelled at resident and did the staff member report you, or did you yell at staff member about resident and a report made from there..Sorry just need to be clear as something must have happened, even a minor thing can be blown out of proportion as I have experienced.. All I can suggest to you write down the daily account of your shift who was your co worker, RN EEN on duty. Was there anything out of the ordinary the particular resident in question was the behaviors normal, you mentioned you only attended to her once through your shift. Your co worker what was she or he like to work with that day. Your supervisor same thing .. It does sound a serious matter here. I have not been" touch wood" through this.. So I do wish I could offer some good sounding advise to you. Maybe those with a wealth of nursing experience can jump in here..

I did join a union some time ago.. Maybe where you are studying can guide you in the right direction on the legalities of this .. Just another suggestion... I am feeling for you especially if you are an innocent party to all this...

GIZJIZ Just to clarify I never yelled at the resident but the resident told another staff member a few days later that I had yelled at the them. The staff member then reported it. I don't even really know the details as I am waiting for work to send me a letter. Still haven't received. I always keep a diary of every shift I have done and there was nothing unusual about this lady. She tends to complain about staff members and behaviours have been done on her previously about trying to gossip about staff and other residents. The worker who made the report wasn't the persons I had worked with that day and that is all I know. I did contact the union and they are looking into it for me but there is nothing anyone can do until I get the letter to see what the accusation is!

Very frustrating. A learning experience for sure. I am just glad I always keep a diary.

I reckon you need to consider joining the union.
