Hi everyone, I am looking for some help with my very first practical assessment for Aged Care Cert 3. I have an idea and i think i know what to do but i just want to make sure from other people. Here is the scenario:
Joseph Bharti is an 82 year old Indian man who was recently admitted to Shady Palms ( low care). He has osteoarthritis that impacts on his daily activities. His wife is unable to continue to care for him at home. He has limited mobility and mobilises with assistance. He has a history of falls.
Mr Bharti is a Roman Catholic and likes to recieve holy communion daily. He is concerned he will not be able to practice his beliefs while living at Shady Palms.
Mr Bharti requires assistance to mobilise from his room to the dining room. Whilst you are transporting Mr Bharti you notice there is a liquid spill on the floor.
During the time you spend with Mr Charti you are required to demonstrate and explain the following:
- appropriate communication techniques including self introduction, consent, explanations and professional behaviour.
My prob is, once i come across the spill, i can't leave the spill as someone might trip in it, but Mr Bharti has trouble with mobility- so is it right to stand with him and call for assistance???
I have to do this on wednesday so any help would be much appreciated!
