Every aged care facility has policies for the staff to adhere when it comes to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
It is an area of legislation that has to be taken very seriously and I know, it seems like overkill at times. However, the Law is the Law.
At the time of orientating into a facility, the fire training, food safety temperature guff, the infection control and hand washing policies are discussed Briefly.
It is MANDATORY for all the facilities to annually cover such topics to ensure complaince to law by staff.
If you have been given a 'booklet on OHS" to fill in then everyone at your place of work would have this to do? It sounds to be the way to cover
for the legislative requirements. The person who is your OHS Officer (THERE IS ONE), should be able to help you in answering or else point out and/or supply the
policies to answer your questions. The answers are all there. Good luck.
