Hi guys!

I am planning to take the cert 3 in aged care in Melbourne early next year, Jan 2011 to be exact. So I am supposed to get a student visa that is good for 6 months. According to my agent, this is the easy way to get to Au if you did not meet the required score of 7 in all subtest in IELTS. But after reading some related blogs saying that having certificate 3 in aged care does not give you rights to get sponsorship for a visa to work as a personal care assistant, put me in dilemma if whether I will still take the Cert 3 in aged care or I should directly take the bridging course and wait for July 2012 because the bridging course classes starts just on January and July. I am aiming for a working visa then permanent visa eventually. So does anybody know if having completed the Aged care course will not be allowed to get a sponsorship? because if that is the case then I'll be sent back to my hometown, right?

Please help me on this! I badly needed your help. Thank you very much!

I'm sorry I do not mean to come across as being racist.. I have read this post over and over. By doing cert 3.. And this is how it sounds to me .... A way of getting into Australia.. I know from my own experience an increase of foreign students taking places before Australians can get into tafe. I know this was the case with me in 2009. We have students on work placement at our facility from Africa. An understanding of Australian culture is limited and I do fear for our residents. For want of a better word they are clueless. And these training colleges that are singing them off and giving othem a certificate 3 , taking thousands of dollars from them should be investigated... Sorry I am just concerned....

Here I am again having a rant about this post... I was talking about this to a colleague she mentioned that George Negus had done something on one of his a current affair show this year on chanel ten I know the show has been axed . About foreign students in age care facilities. I did not see this show so I really cannot comment. And I am trying to google this program.. From what I can gather the standard of care is poor. Whats new in some poorly managed facilties.. I just feel this is so wrong again I don;t mean to sound if I am against overseas students... I am just against the ways and means to get into Australia...

Yeah I agree with Gizjiz, the modus for entering and gaining residency looks dodgy and I certainly do not agree with people making a mockery of the healthcare system. Age care cert 3 is a very basic qualification and will NOT gain you any favours if you plan to apply for PR on grounds of skill migration.

Sheshe21, if you are serious, go do an EEN at the minimum or a University course to be an RN. Otherwise, you will be wasting time and money.

If it sounds like I am anti migration or foreigners, its because many don;t go about it in the right way. I for one am a migrant myself and I certainly find boat people and superfulous "study" visa entry methods to be wrong as it drains our coffers and opportunities. Sheshe, sponsoship are only for those with very exceptional skills in a high end practise, certificate 3 and 4 certainly would not qualify, especially to an international student. Be sensible and look to study a proper course....good luck
